Don't fall for Newsday spin; Nassau Democrats lost big time last night.

My friends, I hope that you all watched the Primary Election returns last night. I'm sure that many of you kept hitting that refresh button like there was no tomorrow. Its ok.

Im sure you also watched the News12 spin on the victories of Rob Solomon and Tricia Ferrell, and saw the Newsday articles about how great Tom Suozzi's coattails are.

But, make no mistake about it, folks: Nassau Democrats lost big time last night, and they know it.

For starters, they lost almost every single Independence Party primary. The only primaries they won were Dorothy Goosby, Diane Yatauro, and Kathleen Rice. They lost every judicial race. They were routed in Town and County races.

In fact, County Comptroller Howie Weitzman was thoroughly routed in the Independence primary by Donald X. Clavin. He lost by 14 points, the largest margin of defeat in the County wide primaries.

Every single Republican Judicial candidate won the independence Primary.

The only surprise of the night was Denis Dillon. And folks, for those of you who think Denis may have problems on this account should keep your powder dry. Denis Dillon is a very popular, and very safe incumbent.

So, in spite of all the Democrat spin about Tom Suozzi's coattails, they picked two candidates to run against Republicans that are not particularly impressive. In so far as I can tell, Rob Solomon is a puppet for Tom Suozzi. His stale talking points about Denise Ford will not resonate with people fed up with high taxes and over development.

Tricia Ferrell is a candidate whose resume is significantly shorter than Rocco Iannarelli. The democrats would have been smart to nominate him. But, the blind love for Tom Suozzi turned the brains off.

Its ok, i dont mind.
